Governance
Scientific Council
The Scientific Council is the Institute's principal scientific and academic body. It is responsible for the scientific quality of the Institute's research, publications and methods, and for the academic standards of its educational programmes.

Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor. Leads the EPLO Office in Ukraine, which supports and coordinates the Institute's activities in Ukraine.
Role and working method
What the Council does
Sets the research agenda
Approves, on the Director's proposal, the Institute's multi-annual research programme and annual work plan.
Guards academic standards
Approves study programmes leading to titles of studies, with their learning outcomes, ECTS workload and assessment rules. Assures their quality in line with the European Standards and Guidelines, approves teaching staff and examiners, and confirms final results.
Adopts standards and methods
Adopts the Institute's standards, methodologies and frameworks, such as DPLIA, after public consultation where appropriate. Ensures peer review of publications and sets rules on research ethics and academic integrity.
Meets and decides
At least once a year, with extraordinary meetings when the Director convenes them. Members may take part remotely; decisions are taken by simple majority and may be adopted electronically. Members declare any conflict of interest.
Membership
Distinguished scholars and experts in public law, human rights, ethics, technology and business, appointed by the Director after consultation with the Head of the EPLO Office in Ukraine, for renewable two-year terms. An eminent person may be invited to serve as Honorary President.
